Prof. (Dr.) Vijaylakshmi Brara, Professor

I am a sociologist, specializing in Sociological Theories, Cultural Studies and Gender Studies. Presently teaching post graduate courses on Sociology of Gender, Kinship systems and Sociology of North East India.

I was awarded PhD from CSSS, JNU and did my Masters from Delhi School of Economics, Department of Sociology, Delhi University. My thesis was published as a book by Oxford University Press, titled “Politics Society and Cosmology in India’s North East in 1998, It is now a widely referred book by the students of sociology as well those interested in the North east India.

Presently I am working as Professor in department of Sociology, Royal Global School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Royal Global University, Guwahati, Assam since 4.3.2022. (Permanent position)
