Since its establishment in 2017, the Department of Zoology has significantly enhanced the teaching of Animal Sciences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the North-Eastern region. Today, the Department stands out as a unique institution in the area, focusing on interdisciplinary teaching and research in animal sciences. Its distinctiveness lies in its faculty, which includes experts and active researchers across nearly all fields of animal sciences.
The Department's teaching programs emphasize a comprehensive understanding of animal biology, covering both macro and micro molecular mechanisms in all living systems. Graduates of this department secure positions in major teaching and research organizations. Additionally, the skill development courses offered, such as Vermiculture, Sericulture, Apiculture, Pest Management, and Wildlife Photography, not only enhance employability but also promote self-employment opportunities.
Organizing refresher courses for faculty and hands-on training programs for students is a regular feature of the Department. Thus, the Department plays a crucial role in advancing scientific and educational activities in India, maintaining a commitment to national service.
Quality teaching in the Department is supported by ongoing research activities, which require substantial financial backing. Currently, the Department has 15 research fellows engaged in diverse research programs within animal biology, including Cell and Molecular Biology, Environmental and Genetic Toxicology, Animal Taxonomy and Biodiversity, Entomology, Animal Ecology, Parasitology, Cancer Biology, and Medicinal Plant Research.
The faculty's research output is notable, with over 52 publications in esteemed national and international journals. Recognizing the Department's expertise and the rich faunal diversity and ecosystems in the region, it has identified Ecology and Wildlife Biology, along with Environmental and Genetic Toxicology, as the thrust area of its research.
Infrastructure:The lecture halls in the Department of Zoology are furnished with digital interactive boards, fostering an optimal environment for teaching and learning. The practical laboratory is equipped with advanced facilities to ensure smooth execution of laboratory-based experiments. Royal Global University also features an animal house dedicated to experiments involving animal models. Furthermore, the department includes a project room equipped with aquariums for conducting in-house experiments. Moreover, the department's location near the Garbhanga reserve forest offers proximity to diverse animal species, enabling students to gain practical experience in animal behaviour and ecological studies.

I completed my BSc. in Zoology from this university and proudly graduated as a Gold Medalist in the year 2022. Presently, I am pursuing MSc. in Environmental Biology and Wildlife Sciences at Cotton University, Guwahati. Not only did this university provide me with outstanding academic knowledge, but it also moulded me into a globally competitive individual.
