There is a popular saying that ‘Communication rules the World’ without which the overall development of society is not possible. The Royal School of Communications and Media, which is popularly known as (RSCoM) comprises two departments namely the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Department of Animation. The Royal School of Communications and Media focuses on quality media education in the field of Media Studies in India with a special focus on the Northeast. The key thrust areas of the school include Development Communication & Traditional Media, Print Media vs Digital Media, Radio & Television Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations and Corporate Communication, New Media Technology and Online Journalism, Event Management, and Media Management. The core strength of the school lies in its highly qualified and experienced faculty members who are drawn from both Academia and Industry. We at the Royal School of Communications and Media focus more on the industry-academia interface and hands-on practical exposure so that our students will be able to understand the changing trends and nuances of the media and entertainment industry, which is the fastest-growing sector. As per the industry requirement, we train and inspire our students in many ways. The classroom environment is so conducive where our students learn to question, engage, and articulate their ideas rationally. The learning process is enhanced through invited lectures and special classes by nationally and internationally prominent persons, industry experts, senior academicians, etc. According to the latest FICCI report the Indian M&E sector grew by 8% in 2023, reaching INR2.3 trillion (US$27.9 billion), 21% above its pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Digital advertising grew 15% in 2023 and surpassed traditional advertising for the first time. The avenues and opportunities that are available in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication are numerous and diversified. It’s not just a place where you go and study, it’s where you LEARN!
While I made the bold decision of pursuing my Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication I had a lot of things to build within myself and that’s exactly when the Royal School of Communications and Media helped in pushing me forward to explore new things. From appreciating my small to big achievements, the department has helped me shape my personality by inculcating within me an interest in the learning process, from being a mediocre student to becoming the class topper - I have come a long way. RSCOM has provided me with the opportunity to explore the media world and learn skills which will help me move forward in life. My time in RSCOM has truly been a great experience, with mentors more like friends, here I found the joy of learning.
My experience at the Royal School of Communications and Media, The Assam Royal Global University, has been remarkable. The faculty's experience and dedication, combined with hands-on learning opportunities, have significantly improved my grasp of the media world. The vibrant campus life and innovative facilities provide a perfect atmosphere for academic and personal development. As a current PhD scholar in Journalism and Mass Communication, and an alumnus of RSCOM, my journey at RGU has been nothing short of transformative, equipping me with profound knowledge and invaluable practical skills. The curriculum is robust and contemporary, blending theoretical insights with hands-on experiences, such as studio visits and interactions with industry stalwarts. The faculty is not only knowledgeable but also deeply committed to student success, fostering an environment of intellectual curiosity and growth. My time at the Royal School of Communications and Media has been marked by academic excellence, professional development, and personal growth, making it a pivotal chapter in my educational and career journey.
RGU has provided me with tremendous exposure since I joined the institution. It is a great place for someone who is eager to learn and grow. The campus felt like home, the faculty like family, and the friends I made here will last a lifetime. The university was my first step toward the career I wanted to pursue, and it steers you in the right direction.
With a Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism, my educational foundation at the university has equipped me with a versatile skill set across various media domains. Currently, I am a full-time theatre facilitator at 'Agora', a prominent cultural organization in Guwahati. My passion for acting is reflected in the upcoming Bollywood debut in Kangana Ranaut's movie 'Emergency', due for release on 6th September 2024. I attribute my confidence and competence in the industry to the comprehensive training and opportunities received during the academic tenure and my commitment to integrating academic knowledge with practical experience underscores my dedication to the craft and continual professional development.
