GUWAHATI, October 31, 2026:
Calling the present moment a defining period in India’s growth story, Sri Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and
Managing Director of the JSW Group, urged graduating students of The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) to
seize the opportunities ahead with dedication, hard work and honesty.
Delivering his address after being conferred the Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) Honoris Causa at RGU’s Sixth
Convocation yesterday, Sri Jindal expressed his gratitude to the Chancellor and the University for the
honour. Addressing the graduating students, he said, “This is the time for India,” emphasising that the
country was poised for a remarkable transformation in the coming decades.
Recalling his own journey after graduating with an engineering degree 42 years ago, Sri Jindal observed that
India had undergone significant changes over the past four decades. He noted that the country, which was
struggling with underdevelopment when he completed his education, was now on the threshold of a new era of
growth and prosperity.
“What is interesting for students like you who are passing out in 2026 is that India in the next 25 years is
going to be a very different country,” he said, expressing confidence that the nation would emerge as a
developed country, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that the graduating generation
would have the opportunity to witness and contribute to this transformation.
Offering a message of encouragement to the young graduates, Sri Jindal advised them to pursue their chosen
paths with enthusiasm, commitment and integrity. “Go out there, enjoy what you do, work hard, work with
dedication and honesty, and nobody can stop you from becoming what you want to become,” he said, urging the
students to make their parents, their University and themselves proud.
The Sixth Convocation of The Assam Royal Global University was held in the presence of an eminent gathering
of dignitaries and academicians. A total of 1,609 graduates received their degrees and diplomas, including
