Royal Global University Observes ‘Green Day’
Plantation Drive and Bicycle Distribution Mark Chancellor’s 63rd Birthday
GUWAHATI, September 22, 2026: The 63rd Birthday of Dr. Ashok Kumar
Pansari, Chancellor of The Assam Royal Global University (RGU), was observed today as a day of service,
compassion and environmental responsibility, with activities focused on giving back to society and nature
rather than conventional celebrations.
Instead of cakes, sweets or ceremonial festivities, the occasion was marked by initiatives promoting
environmental conservation and social welfare. Dr. Pansari led a plantation drive on the university campus,
planting 63 saplings, and donated bicycles to needy individuals, symbolising each year of his life and his
continued commitment to education, growth and social upliftment.
Faculty members, students and staff actively participated in the plantation drive and pledged to nurture the
saplings. The initiative seeks to strengthen environmental consciousness among the university community and
contribute towards creating a greener and cleaner RGU campus.
As part of the social welfare initiative, Dr. Pansari also donated 63 bicycles to needy individuals and
organisations working for the welfare of underprivileged communities. The bicycles were distributed among
beneficiaries from economically disadvantaged backgrounds as well as representatives of charitable
organisations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pansari said, “Birthdays should not be about personal celebrations alone, but
about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I believe service to humanity and care for the
environment are the highest forms of celebration.” He expressed gratitude to the RGU family for joining the
initiative and urged everyone to carry forward the spirit of service and environmental responsibility in
their everyday lives.
RGU has been observing the Chancellor’s birthday as ‘Green Day’ every year, with activities focusing on
environmental conservation and community service. The initiative reflects the university’s emphasis on
social responsibility and sustainable development.
