Royal Global University Signs MoU with Assam Police to Expand Educational Opportunities for Police Families

Guwahati, July 3, 2026: In a significant initiative aimed at supporting the families of police personnel through quality higher education, The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Police. The agreement was formalised at the Office of the Director General of Police, Guwahati, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.

The MoU marks a new chapter in the collaboration between academia and law enforcement, with a shared vision of empowering the families of those who serve society with dedication and courage.

Formalising a Meaningful Partnership

The agreement was signed by Smti Sharmistha Barua, AIGP Welfare, on behalf of the Assam Police, and Dr. D. N. Singh, Registrar Academics, representing The Assam Royal Global University.

The signing ceremony was graced by Shri Harmeet Singh, IPS, Director General of Police, Assam, and Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice Chancellor, The Assam Royal Global University, along with senior officials from Assam Police and the University.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain expressed confidence that the partnership would create meaningful educational opportunities for the wards and dependents of Assam Police personnel. He emphasised that the collaboration reflects the University's commitment to ensuring greater access to quality higher education for those who dedicate their lives to public service.

Scholarships to Honour Service and Sacrifice

As part of the collaboration, Royal Global University will extend two dedicated scholarship programmes designed to support the educational aspirations of eligible dependents and wards of police and security personnel.

Royal Shaurya Scholarship

The Royal Shaurya Scholarship has been introduced to honour the families of personnel who have made extraordinary sacrifices in the service of the nation. The scholarship supports the higher education aspirations of eligible dependents by providing significant financial assistance.

Royal Suraksha Scholarship

The Royal Suraksha Scholarship is designed to benefit the wards and dependents of serving personnel, ex-servicemen, personnel with disabilities, and those who have died in harness. The initiative aims to make quality higher education more accessible while encouraging academic excellence and professional development.

A Shared Vision for the Future

Describing the partnership as a matter of great pride, Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain stated that the University is honoured to collaborate with the Assam Police in recognising the invaluable contributions of police personnel. He reaffirmed RGU's commitment to empowering the next generation through academic excellence, scholarship support, and holistic development.

The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by Prof. Diganta Munshi, Registrar Administration, and Sattyakee D'com Bhuyan, Associate Dean, Office of Student Affairs, from Royal Global University. Representing Assam Police were Shri Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, IPS, IGP Administration; Shri Raj Singh, IPS, IGP T≈ Smti Olindita Gogoi, AIGP; and Shri Samiron Deka, AIGP Logistics.
