GUWAHATI, May 22, 2026:
The Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Govt of India New Delhi in association with The Department
of English, Royal School of Languages has organied the 12th edition of Kala Samvad, a distinguished
lecture-cum-discussion series here today at Jyoti Mancha at the university campus. The programme has been
envisioned to commemorate the inclusion of the Bhagavad Gita and the Natyashastra in UNESCO’s Memory of the
World Register in April 2025.
A panel discussion on The theme of this edition is: "Bhagavad Gita and Natyashastra: Cultural Treasures of
Humanity” was held. Chaired by Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Hon’ble Chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi in
the august presence of Dr Dhrubajyoti Borah, Chief Advisor to the Chancellor RGU and legendary Sattriya
dance maestro Padma Bhushan Natyacharya Jatin Goswami , apart from many others.

joined the programme. Thanked Ankur Pansari, Pro Chancellor RGU for the initiative at RGU….art unites
humanity beyond languages, relion and ideology….This initiative is not merely an academic exercise, it is a
civilizational responsibility for centuries of wisdom…the Natyashashtra is not simply a text on theatre, it
is a complete science of life, psychology, emotions, inter social content, it talks about knowledge of
architecture, music, dance and literature and many more subjects…she said.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi has been actively promoting and preserving India’s intangible cultural heritage
through initiatives such as the Kala Samvad series organised across the country. The Akademi has
successfully organised eleven editions of this lecture series in different parts of India, and The Assam
Royal Global University is honoured to host the twelfth edition in Guwahati.
