GUWAHATI, February 26, 2026: “Have the courage to pursue your goals even after failure. RGU gave me the confidence, the sense of discipline and consistency to believe on myself and achieve my goals”, said Nihar Ranjan Deka, who secured 1st Rank in the recently declared results of the Assam Public Service Commission Combined Competitive Examination (APSC CCE) 2024. Nihar was addressing his junior students at his alma mater The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) today where he was felicitated and honoured in a special programme organised to celebrate his remarkable achievement.
An alumnus of the Department of B.Tech. Civil Engineering (Batch 2017–21), Nihar Deka addressed civil services aspirants of RGU and engaged in an inspiring interactive session with them. The felicitation ceremony was graced by Dr A K Pansari, Chancellor of Royal Global University, along with other dignitaries.
Addressing the aspiring students at Jyoti Mancha at RGU, the APSC topper said, “My simple message is that do not be afraid to fail. Have that discipline and faith in yourself that you are no less than anyone. Have the courage to stick to the process even if you fail. I have failed twice in this examination; I could have given up. But my simple message to everyone is that don’t give up on your dreams. If you truly believe that you can achieve something, you can. Tray again, try harder, stand up again if you fall, you will definitely succeed”.
During his address, Nihar Deka shared valuable insights from his own journey, offering practical tips and strategies for effective preparation for competitive examinations. He also answered a wide range of questions from students, motivating and encouraging them to pursue their goals with dedication and confidence.
He said, “Time management was my biggest challenge, as I was also continuing with my fulltime job. If you really want to crack civil services, you better stick to discipline and consistency. Motivation is momentary but discipline will keep you going”, he added. The session proved to be highly enriching and inspiring for the students, who benefited immensely from his guidance and firsthand experiences.
