GUWAHATI, January 12, 2026: Royal Global University (RGU) celebrated Pre Magh Bihu and Uruka with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour at its campus today, reflecting the warmth, unity and cultural richness of Assam’s harvest festival.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the installation of one of the tallest mejis in the city this year, symbolising the spirit of Magh Bihu. The ceremonial lighting of the meji was performed by renowned industrialist and social worker Sri Pradeep Bharech, accompanied by his wife Smt. Sangita Bharech, at the Royal Garden of RGU. The occasion was graced by Dr. A. K. Pansari, Chancellor RGU, apart from others.
Adding colour and cultural vibrancy to the celebration, a beautiful Bihu Husori performance enthralled the gathering. The Office of Student Affairs, RGU, also organised various fun-filled competitions including tug of war, blind hit and musical chairs, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff.
A lucky draw with numerous attractive prizes added excitement to the festivities. The celebration concluded on a delightful note with everyone enjoying traditional Magh Bihu delicacies such as assorted pithas and jalpan, fostering a sense of togetherness and festive joy across the campus.
