6th Convocation of Royal Global University on 30th October
RGU to Confer Honoris Causa Degrees on Five Eminent Personalities at its 6th Convocation
GUWAHATI, October 3, 2026: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) will hold
its 6th Convocation on Friday, October 30, 2026, marking another significant milestone in the academic
journey of the University. The Convocation will be presided over by Sri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Hon’ble
Governor of Assam and the Visitor of RGU.
The Convocation will witness the conferment of Honoris Causa degrees on five eminent personalities for their
distinguished contributions to their respective fields.
Honoris Causa Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) will be conferred upon Dr. Ashok Seth, Padma Bhushan awardee and
Chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi.
Honoris Causa Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) will be conferred upon Smt. Sudha Murty, Padma Bhushan awardee,
Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, and renowned author, philanthropist and educator.
The University will also confer Honoris Causa D.Litt. upon Sri Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing
Director, JSW Group; Sri Devajit Lon Saikia, Advocate General of Assam and Secretary, Board of Control for
Cricket in India (BCCI); and Sri William Dalrymple, eminent historian, author and public intellectual.
The 6th RGU Convocation will be centred around the theme “Mizoram”, continuing the University’s endeavour to
celebrate the diverse cultural heritage and identity of the Northeast. The theme will be reflected in the
cultural and visual elements associated with the Convocation.
The Alumni meet, an integral part of the Convocation celebrations, will be held on 29th October and it has
received an encouraging response. The 6th Convocation is expected to bring together graduating students,
their families, faculty members, alumni and distinguished guests in celebration of the academic achievements
and accomplishments of the graduating cohort.
