Dr. Bitopi Dutta

About

Dr. Dutta has nearly 08 years of combined teaching, research, and field-based experience across reputed institutions including the North Eastern Social Research Centre (NESRC), Oxfam India, TISS Guwahati, UPES etc. She holds a Ph.D. from Dublin City University (Ireland), where she completed her doctoral thesis titled “Gender Restructuring in Displaced Indigenous Communities of North East India", a M.A. in Social Work from TISS Mumbai and a BA in Sociology (Hons.) from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. She has also qualified the UGC-NET examination.

She has contributed extensively to scholarly discourse, with 5 books publications, 2 book chapters, and 3 paper publications in Scopus-indexed / reputed peer-reviewed journals along with 7 research projects. She has been selected and invited to speak at more than 20 national and international conferences, including events hosted by University College Dublin, the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC), British Association for South Asian Studies, European Conference on Politics and Gender, Jawaharlal Nehru University, the London Mining Network, The India Land and Development Conference etc. She has delivered talks and conducted workshops on gender, displacement, LGBTQIA+ rights, peacebuilding, youth engagement, and conflict resolution for universities, government departments, and civil society organisations.

Dr. Dutta has received several prestigious fellowships and recognitions, including the Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship (2017-2019), a full Ph.D. scholarship from the Dublin City University (2015-19), full scholarship for 11th European Ph.D. workshop in South Asia Studies, Procida, the Rainbow Leaders Scholarship, and a Visiting Professorship at the University of Bologna, Italy. She has also undertaken specialised trainings at the University of Melbourne, University of London, and Goethe University."
