A.) Registration & Admission Fees (To Be Paid Once Only)

  1. Prospectus & Form - 1500.00
  2. Registration (To be paid during the admission for all courses) - 10000.00

B.) Programmes fee to be paid yearly/ semester payment for New Students 2026-27

Eligibility Criteria

Option A (For Design Background):

  1. Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design/ Textile Design/ Apparel Design/ Accessory Design or equivalent
  2. Minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA from recognized university/institution

Option B (For Non-Design Background If we consider):

  1. Bachelor's degree in ANY discipline
  2. Minimum 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA
  3. PLUS Certificate Course in Basic Design/Drawing (minimum 6 months) OR
  4. Demonstrated creative work/portfolio

Age Limit

  1. Maximum age: 26 years as on 1st July of admission year
  2. Relaxation: 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 5 years for PwD candidates

Additional Requirements:

  1. Portfolio Submission: Mandatory for all candidates
  2. Statement of Purpose: 500–800 words explaining interest in fashion design
  3. Letters of Recommendation: Two (preferably one academic, one professional)
  4. Work Experience: Not mandatory but preferred (minimum 1 year in a related field)

Reservation Policy:

As per Government of India norms

  1. SC: 15%
  2. ST: 7.5%
  3. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 27%

Selection Process

Stage 1: Application Screening

Documents Required:

  1. Completed application form
  2. Scanned copies of:
    • a.) 10th, 12th, and Graduation mark sheets
    • b.) Degree certificate
    • c.) Category certificate (if applicable)
    • d.) Photo ID proof
  3. Digital portfolio (PDF format, max 10MB)
  4. Statement of Purpose
  5. Two letters of recommendation
  6. Work experience certificate (if applicable)

  1. Academic performance: 20%
  2. Portfolio quality: 40%
  3. SOP relevance: 20%
  4. Recommendations: 10%
  5. Work experience: 10%

Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT)

Format: Offline/ Online

Part A: Creative Thinking

  1. Visual perception test
  2. Design problem solving
  3. Innovation and ideation exercises

Part B: Technical Knowledge

  1. Basic fashion terminology
  2. Material knowledge
  3. Sustainability concepts
  4. Fashion history awareness

Part C: Research & Analysis

  1. Case study analysis
  2. Trend interpretation
  3. Market understanding

Stage 3: Studio Practical Test

Task 1: Material Exploration

  1. Case study analysis
  2. Trend interpretation
  3. Market understanding

Task 2: 3D Form Development

  1. Create a wearable art piece using provided materials
  2. Focus on structure, form, and innovation
  3. Present to panel

Stage 4: Portfolio Presentation & Interview

Duration: 30 minutes per candidate

Portfolio Requirements:

Format: Physical portfolio (A3 size) + Digital backup

Content:

  1. 8–12 best projects
  2. Process documentation for each project
  3. Research and development work
  4. Technical drawings
  5. Photographs of finished work
  6. Any published work/articles

Presentation: 10-minute presentation by candidate

Interview Structure:

1. Portfolio Discussion (10 minutes)

  1. Questions on projects
  2. Understanding of process
  3. Design thinking demonstration

2. Motivation & Goals (10 minutes)

  1. Why M.Des in Fashion?
  2. Career aspirations
  3. Interest in specific fashion areas

3. Situational Questions (10 minutes)

  1. Ethical dilemmas in fashion
  2. Sustainability challenges
  3. Future of fashion industry

Stage 5: Final Selection

  1. Work experience: +5% (maximum)
  2. Publication/Exhibition: +3% (maximum)
  3. Awards/Recognition: +2% (maximum)
