Prof. (Dr.) Nandana Dutta

Professor of English and Dean Academic

Prof. Nandana Dutta served as Professor of English (2007–2025), as Academic Registrar – Officiating and as Director i/c of GUINEIS (2018-2025) at Gauhati University. With nearly four decades of teaching at Handique Girls’ College, Dibrugarh University, and Gauhati University, she has also been a visiting fellow at leading universities across India. Her research spans English Studies in India, Women & Literature, Postcolonial Studies, American and North East India Studies. She has authored and edited landmark works including Questions of Identity in Assam (Sage, 2012), Communities of Women in Assam (Routledge, 2015), American Literature – Contexts (Orient Blackswan, 2016), and African American Literature – A Short History (Orient Blackswan, 2024). Prof. Dutta has contributed to volumes from OUP, Routledge, and Bloomsbury, and published in reputed journals worldwide. She was the founding editor of Margins: A Journal of Literature & Culture and edited the GUINEIS Journal (2018–2025).
