GUWAHATI, April 6, 2026: In a significant initiative aimed at inspiring future
pharmacy professionals, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) today organised an awareness programme titled
“Inspire & Interact” with pharmacy students from across the Northeast at The Assam Royal Global University
(RGU) and featured an enlightening address by Dr. Montukumar M. Patel, President, Pharmacy Council of India
(PCI).
The event also witnessed an engaging interactive session with students led by Dr. Montukumar M. Patel, Shri
Jashubhai H. Choudhari, Vice President, Pharmacy Council of India, along with other members of the Pharmacy
Council of India. The interactive session provided students with valuable insights into the evolving
pharmaceutical sector, academic opportunities, and professional responsibilities.
Apart from students of RGU, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from several institutions of the
region, including Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam Don Bosco University, Assam Down Town University,
NETAS Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, NEF College of Pharmacy, Pratiksha Institute of Pharmaceutical
Sciences, Rahman Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, J.B. College of Pharmacy, and NEPEDS
College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Patel stressed the need for a strong industry-academia connection, noting that
such platforms help students align their academic learning with real-world industry expectations.
Appreciating RGU for organising the event, he lauded the university for creating meaningful opportunities
for students to directly interact with national-level regulatory leaders and experts.
Dr. Patel further stated that pharmacy students can contribute immensely to the development of the Northeast
region, particularly at a time when new industrial opportunities are emerging, including the upcoming
semiconductor plant in the region. He encouraged students to embrace entrepreneurship and innovation,
remarking that if local youth do not seize these opportunities, others from outside the region may step in
and lead.
Stressing the professional relevance of pharmacy education, he stated that in every job related to drugs,
medicines, and allied healthcare sectors, a pharmacy degree is essential. Expressing his vision for the
future, Dr. Patel concluded by saying that he wishes to see the Northeast emerge as the pharma hub of the
country, driven by skilled professionals, innovation, and region-specific enterprise.
