Programme Overview:

Post-graduate programme providing professional education to aspirants wishing to become journalists and managers/managerial executives in mass media. Besides providing an understanding of communication theories and mass media research, the programme offers three areas of specialization.

The students, based on their interest, can specialize in Electronic Communication covering radio, television and film production; or advanced journalism covering political business, science, environment, crime and investigative journalism; or in Marketing Communication covering advanced concepts in Media Planning and Buying Brand Management, Corporate Communications, Event Planning and Implementation.

Pedagogy:

The faculty of mass communications and media technology has an innovative teaching pedagogy. Practical hands on training are provided teaching methods. Classes are also supplemented by Power Point presentations and instructional videos.

Note: minor modifications in this structure may be incorporated as per the recommmendations of Board of Studies * these are compulsory subjects and scores/grades will be awarded in the end semester examination ** Subject to availability of the faculty members, few foreign language courses will be offered.

Learning Facilities:

The department is equipped with Print Media Lab, Electronic Media Lab, and Photography Lab, Editing Room, Presentation Lab, State of the art class room, Radio LAB, Television Lab and Computer Lab etc.

Programme Outcome:

Media and entertainment are two buzzwords that are mostly related to Mass Communications and Journalism. And these are the two main areas that mass communication and journalism students can get into once they successfully complete the course. The Indian media and entertainment industry is on the lookout for people who are not only experts in their fields but also are extroverts, witty, smart, and creative and are passionate towards their work. And with various departments like marketing, technical, designing, managerial, editing, scaling, anchoring, acting, composing, directing, producing and editing etc. students will have a wide range of roles to choose from.
