Programme Overview:

Applied Chemistry is for those who want to combine their interest in chemistry with knowledge of chemical engineering. It provides a clear understanding of the fundamental principles of chemistry and chemical engineering as is needed for industry. Applied physics in general is intended for a particular technologically or practical use. Applied mathematics has largely developed in response to the need to formulate and solve problems in a diversity of fields. Applied mathematics is more about its applications in various fields like science, engineering, business, economics, computer science and technology.

Pedagogy:

The curriculum provides the theoretical and practical knowledge, and in addition, gives the exposure of training in the institutes /organizations of repute to PG students. Further, students are encouraged to participate and be a part of seminars, workshops, meets, schools and conferences to strengthen the theoretical & experimental capabilities so as to increase theoretical and experimental knowledge in major areas. To enhance the problem solving approach of the students through tutorial classes, regular tests and pre-examination tests with special attention on National Eligibility Test (NED/Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)/Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) syllabus will be held at regular basis. The entire pedagogy of the department is to motivate the students towards research.

Programme Outcome:

Students of Physics will be able to explain the fundamental principles and concepts of physics that include classical mechanics and electromagnetism, thermodynamics etc. Students of Applied Chemistry should be able to cater themselves for the need of pharmaceutical/food/paint/drug, etc. industries. Students enrolled in applied mathematics will have the ability of logical thinking, the ability of abstraction necessary to transform a real life problem into a mathematical model; will possess high-level knowledge of mathematics, as well as understanding of concepts and language in technology or economics and finance.
