Programme Overview:

M.Com. is a two year postgraduate degree program that focuses on the systematic study of the concepts of Accountancy, Business Studies, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Banking, Law, Taxation, Marketing, Management Studies, etc. Therefore, the study of M.Com, course gives an insight of commerce, management and economics as a whole.

Pedagogy:

The department of Commerce follows the pedagogy designed to equip the students with skills in conformity with those required by the challenging corporate environment. It includes a well-planned blend of industry exposure, conceptual learning, practical assignments and innovative projects. Emphasis is on interactive learning and employing sophisticated electronic media/computer aided tools and technologies. Business games and case studies are used to develop analytical and managerial skills in the students. Participation in seminars, group discussions and role-plays constitute an integral part of the pedagogy. Course Reading Materials in the form of text-books, articles, research papers, etc. are made available to all the students in advance. The system incorporates two way communication and conceptual discussions which enable the students to develop an understanding of the course. A lot of importance is given to Industry-Academia interface which will help to complement the class room learning and developing a practical perspective. Visits from both academia and industry are organized on diverse topics related to international business, cross-cultural management, business ethics and policy decision making.

Note: minor modifications in this structure may be incorporated as per the recommmendations of Board of Studies * these are compulsory subjects and scores/grades will be awarded in the end semester examination ** Subject to availability of the faculty members, few foreign language courses will be offered.

    Nationalized banks like State Bank of India, Union Bank of India etc. as Probationary Officer or Customer Relationship Executive.

    They can also join public sector undertakings like Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC).

    Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited (HEC Ltd) etc.

    FMCG companies like Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Nestle India, and Cadbury India etc. reputed private banks

Programme Outcome:

After completion of Master degree in Commerce the students will develop an ability to apply knowledge acquired in problem solving. The students will be ready for employment in functional areas like:
