Programme Overview:

This multidisciplinary programme aims to encourage design innovation and impart a wider perspective, a broader perception to the thoughts and ideas of tomorrow. The Master programme will develop students who will be able to work beyond boundaries and bring together their skills and ideas in new exciting ways in the fashion industry. Students would be expected to draw on each other`s creativity and provide a critical approach to future fashion; as well as provide design innovations and inventions for the growing fashion industry.

Pedagogy:

The programme introduces concepts and principles of marketing, merchandising and management with a focus on fashion business. Fashion related knowledge and marketing skills are the thrust areas. Towards the end of the year the students are exposed to the dynamics of the market through fashion industry internship and training programs, which enables them to integrate classroom learning with practical experience. The programme has a right pool of talents in house and industry experts taking regular session. The curriculum is unique and designed to meet the specific need of the fashion industry across the functional and operational areas.

Note: minor modifications in this structure may be incorporated as per the recommmendations of Board of Studies * these are compulsory subjects and scores/grades will be awarded in the end semester examination ** Subject to availability of the faculty members, few foreign language courses will be offered.

In the new age of technological advancements, the success of fashion professionals rests on their ability to integrate fashion and information technology in a meaningful way. The computer labs are well equipped with state-of-the-art Hardware and Software, Servers, Work Stations, Computers, Plotters, Digitizers, Image Scanners, Wide Format Printers, Sound Mixers, Digital cameras, etc. Students are provided a stimulating learning environment where they test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical insight and exposure.

Career Opportunities:

Candidate from this programme would become innovators in the field of fashion and textiles holding key positions in large fashion & corporate houses. The employment opportunities also include predicting and forecasting fashion styling, design and management of fashion brands, etc. They will be able to make contribution in research and development through their work in Government and Private agencies. They can also become scholars and contribute to the teaching community or find themselves placed as entrepreneurs running their own studios.

Programme Outcome:

A Master in Fashion Technology combines creativity with managerial skills to sustain in this industry. Fashion design course builds a strong foundation in terms of design sense, conceptualization, independent research, creative application and individual artistic expression. Students are also introduced to various historic fashion and art movements as exemplars and how these influence contemporary fashion. This is the very reason why our students will be ready to be employed with fashion houses, designer labels, luxury brands, apparel retail brands and ready to wear fashion industries. Students acquire creative and innovation skills to design apparels and contribute to the design of systems, components of process with due considerations given to public health, safety, cultural, societal and environmental factors.
