Programme Overview:

The Diploma in Interior Design is designed for students seeking a career in interior design field. The Diploma focuses on commercial design including hospitality, offices and retail environments. Students will study advanced design theory, commercial space planning, sustainability practices, codes and barrier-free compliance, lighting, design history, visual communication, critical reading and writing, construction drawings, millwork and furniture design. Students will gain hands-on experience in the Joinery shop to expand their understanding of millwork details and assembly. Students will achieve both a strong academic and technical foundation on completion of this program. Students learn from industry-based faculty and develop extensive practical skills for rewarding careers.

Career Opportunities:

Diverse job opportunities exist in front of interior design professionals. They may either choose to work under supervised setup (Design studios and Interior design firms) or work independently. When it comes to Government sector jobs, PWDs, Municipal Corporations and Town Planning Departments are known to hire interior design professionals. They may also become part of Government schemes related to housing and relocation of people. Some of the well-known recruiters include Interior Design firms, Architecture and Design firms, Infrastructure and Property Developers, Furniture Manufacturing and Designing firms. If one has entrepreneurship skills and access to decent financial resources, one may start own interior design firm or consultancy service.
