Programme Overview:

The Department of Electrical Engineering was started in 2010 with a vision to be a center of Excellence for Electrical Engineering courses. It offers eight-semester undergraduate programme (B.Tech.) with 60 intake capacity. The department is committed to empower students with quality knowledge and technological skills. Ever since its establishment, the department has been well equipped with excellent classrooms as well as laboratory facilities. The department comprises of senior, young and dynamic faculty members and laboratory instructors who are drawn from strong academic backgrounds. The faculty members have a strong sense of responsibility and ability to provide the finest possible education to the students. Field trips to various industries, power plants and sub-stations are undertaken at frequent intervals during which students as well as the teachers actively participate. Seminars are conducted by expert professionals on a regular basis with the sole aim that students can get in-depth knowledge for various core subjects of Electrical Engineering; also, the department puts special efforts for improving communication skills, personality development and imbibing proper ethics amongst the students. The academic strength of the department is reflected over the brilliant performance of students as well as alumni, many of whom are placed in various core industries and academia in India.

Pedagogy:

The aim of Engineering Pedagogy is to impart integral understanding in terms of both theoretical and practical knowledge. The syllabus is covered in such a way that the theoretical knowledge is imparted through visual effects with the help of equipment and machineries in the lab. We add extra experiments in the practical classes to match with the applications of theoretical knowledge. Classroom teaching involves lectures and tutorials. Lectures are directed towards analytical, conceptual, presentation, communication and application oriented skills of the students. Projects are done in groups by students in domain of their interest. Project works teach research methodology and enable the students to work as a team. Industrial visits to Electrical Sub-stations, Electrical industries are carried out to provide the students with ideas of professional reality. Students are also encouraged to take part in various inter-college events. This methodology endeavors to ignite the young minds with passion, boost their self-confidence and transform them into valuable and responsible human resources.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering can get a student numerous careers in fields associated with electricity, electronics, power transmission & various other areas related to electricity. In the private and government sector, Electrical Engineering Graduates can get appointed at various levels. Once they gain enough experience and are skilled enough, they can climb up the ladder of promotion to work as Associate Engineer, Assistant Engineer, and Executive Engineer etc.

Programme Outcome:

Students are empowered to build powerful electrical engineering solutions through excellent designing, analytical, logical and problem solving skills. Students are taught to design electrical systems, components and processes to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, contractual, manufacturability and sustainability. Students understand and analyze the impact of electrical engineering solutions in regional, national, global, economic, environmental, social context and to our lives. They are taught economic feasibility, cost estimates concerning design, construction, operation and maintenance of electrical system in electrical engineering projects. Students are empowered to build successful career in electrical engineering by blending knowledge and skills of technical and management knowledge with ethical practice.
