Programme Overview:

The Civil Engineering Department of RSET was started in the year 2009. Since time immemorial, Civil Engineering has offered the most versatile means to living of mankind. The domain of core civil engineering is very vast and requires expertise in fluid mechanics, structural analysis and design, soil mechanics, public health and sanitation, irrigation engineering, disaster management and many more. Presently, the department is supported by well-experienced and dedicated faculty members and laboratory instructors. The department boasts of its first batch student Ms. Kasturi Bhuyan who topped in Gauhati University in 2013 followed by Ms. Archita Bora in 2016, who was also all branch topper under Guwahati University and Ms. Nirmaly Roy Medhi who topped in 2017(ASTU exams).

Pedagogy:

In an endeavor to impart quality education to our students, the faculty members of Civil Engineering Dept. put greater emphasis on concept-building via effective individual student-teacher interaction, power—point presentations, seminars and practical oriented learning through laboratory experiments and field trips. The academic activities of the department emphasize deep understanding, development of creative ability to handle the different challenges of Civil Engineering and other analytical abilities to solve problems, which are interdisciplinary in nature.

In Civil Engineering Department Laboratories and projects provide a crucial insight into the practical applicability of these subjects. Final year students get a hands-on experience to materialize their concepts and ideas into executing solutions for hardcore civil engineering challenges through project work. The department also facilitates ample exposure to the students to gain practical experience through industrial training and site visits. Programme Outcome:

After completion of B.Tech., in Civil programme the students will have knowledge of engineering, mathematics, probability, statistics and science along with contemporary issues plus the ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools in civil engineering practice. An ability to engage in multidisciplinary terms to identify, formulate and solve civil engineering problems in a professional manner considering ethical responsibilities. Students will realize the need for and an ability to engage in lifelong learning through independent study and participate in professional conferences, workshop, seminars and working towards professional licensures, certifications and societies. They will be able to design systems, components and process in more than one civil engineering context to meet desired needs, within the realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, contractibility and sustainability and conduct civil engineering experiments and analyze and interpret the resulted data.
